How To Schedule Facebook Posts On The Go With The ‘Pages Manager’ App

Pages Manager App officially launched in 2012 with an iOS app (the Android version was released earlier this year), and was designed to let admins check on their Page activity, view insights and respond to their audience from their mobile device. You can keep track of up to 50 company service or product pages from your mobile phone. Before launching this tool, Facebook users who needed to moderate pages had to to use the regular Facebook app, but this didn’t give them any administrative controls. 

Some features included with the app are:

• The ability to delete a post.
• Content that can be shared include status updates, links, pictures and other relevant media or content.
• A push notifications option.
• The ability to filter and regulate content availability  by making it public or private.
• Access to private messages which can be responded to under the page name, instead of the administrator’s name.

As of recently, you can now schedule a post directly from the Pages Manager App. If you haven’t taken advantage of the Pages Manager app, you can download it one of two ways: 

• from the iTunes Store or 
• from the Google Play store.

Finally, an app that allows  you the flexibility to manage your pages on the go! As promised, here’s how to schedule a post from your mobile device.

To schedule a post from the iphone or ipad

1. Choose the type of post you want to add to your Page
2. Tapin the lower-left corner and select the date and time you’d like your post to appear
3. Tap Schedule > Post

To schedule a post from the Android phone

1. Choose the type of post you want to add to your Page
2. Tapin the lower-left corner
3. Select the date and time you’d like your post to appear and tap Schedule
4. Tap Schedule at the top right corner

You can view and manage your scheduled posts by tapping on Filter in the top right corner.

[Infographic] Social Recruiting with Facebook Graph Search

Facebook is testing a feature called Graph Search that helps you find more people that share your interests.  For example, you can explore new places to eat from friends that have similiar interests, plan a trip, start a book club or find a gym buddy. Connect with friends who like the same activities—and meet new people, too. There is currently a waiting list for Graph Search, but you can sign up to get on this list. This infographic, developed by social employee referral management platform, Zao, takes a look at how to use Graph Search as a tool for social recruiting.

If someone were to ask me what platform would I focus on for social recruitment. I would say LinkedIn without a doubt. What is surprising to me, according to this infographic is that 47% of new hires through social media are referred through Facebook, which puts the social network ahead of LinkedIn and Twitter as a recruitment platform. Facebook is  the second most trafficked website in the world, only trailing Google. No less than 85% of internet users have Facebook accounts and this is why it’s time to start building a Facebook presence for your brand now.

More Facebook Job Hunting Facts

• 1 in 5 of users have had a friend share a job on Facebook
• 84% of job seekers have a Facebook profile
• 14 percent search specifically for jobs on Facebook
• 52 percent use Facebook to help find work

Companies can set up Facebook pages to build a following and post job listings, but almost 50% of users will “unlike” a page if the company posts too many status updates. This is why searching for candidates directly through Graph Search might be a better way to target people who might be interested in a new career.

Are Your Facebook Cover Images and Ads Violating Facebook’s 20% Text Rule?

Facebook recently has made some changes to the guidelines of cover photo’s, page post ads and sponsored stories in the news feed. Basically, you can’t promote images with more than 20% text in them. How do you know if you’re violating Facebook’s guidelines? In my opinion, it’s hard to tell unless you are a graphic designer and have the natural ability to eyeball the graphics. I found a handy tool that will help you quickly determine if you’re in violation. Facebook will also be releasing a tool to help quickly determine whether your image satisfies the 20% limit. In the meantime, check out the Promotheus app.

With this tool, you can check the “20% of text” compliance of your cover image, promoted page or page post and sponsored stories. As stated in Facebook Advertising Guidelines: ” Cover Photo’s, Ads and sponsored stories in News Feed may not include images comprised of more than 20% text.” Though the guideline says that the restriction relates only to News Feed, we suggest you check your ad images appearing in the sidebar. These ads may appear as sponsored in the News Feed and that might be a problem. This new policy replaces previous policies around calls to action, price or purchase information, etc. It only applies to cover images, feed eligible Page post ads and sponsored stories (including links, offers, and mobile app install units) – it does not apply to market place ads. Additionally, brands can still post images with more than 20% text on their timelines; they just can’t promote them with paid media.

Here’s how to check your images:

1. Type in your Facebook business page URL  or Upload an image.

2. Click ‘Get Image’ or ‘Upload Image.’

3. Next, click on the area (rectangles) where you have text. The Promotheus app will let you know what percentage of your graphic has text. If you’re 20% or less, you’re all set.

More Cover Photo Guidelines

Just in case you didn’t know, cover photos may not contain the following information:

• Promotion, price or purchase information. You need an app for that. For example, “40% off,” “Download it at our website,” or “Free cover page design all month.”
• Contact information. For example, your web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page’s About section.
• References to user interface elements. For example, Like and Share or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these features.
• Calls to action. For example, “Get it now” or “Tell your friends.”

[Infographic] Facebook ‘Best Days to Post’ Segmented by Industry

What is the best time to share content on Facebook for maximum exposure?  Should you post first thing in the morning?  During lunch?  At the end of the workday when people are getting ready to head home? Determining when to post  to get the most engagement is one of the greatest challenges of Facebook page admins. Who’s to say that a post targeted at the retail industry wouldn’t do better on the weekends while a post targeted towards technology fans wouldn’t do better during the work week? Not all Facebook posts are targeted at the same people, so you have to be careful of “general research” about Facebook or any other social media trend. It may not apply to your industry or audience. That’s why this infographic from LinchpinSEO is helpful. The data for this infographic analyzed the user engagement of more than 1,800 Facebook pages from the world’s top brands for the first two months following the implementation to Timeline. The data was collected from April 1 to May 31, 2012 and is organized by industry. For instance, companies considered “general retail” will find more engagement on Mondays (19% above average), whereas nonprofits will see greater success on weekends (14% higher interaction on Saturdays and Sundays.)

Not surprisingly, the top 9 networks are Pinterest, YouTube, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare. Depending on your business, you might not take advantage of all, but use at least a few. The research for this infographic was conducted by the SDL Social Media Team and it was created by SDL SM2 and Bizango Business Websites. It provides helpful tips on each of the above mentioned social platforms to help you get a very basic understanding. Great for beginners, but not enough detail for the advanced social media manager.

[Infographic] 50% of Facebook Fans Find Brand Pages More Useful Than Company Websites

Yes, according to the below infographic from market research company, Lab42, 50% of Facebook Fans like brand pages more than your website. Why? Well, among the 1000 social media users surveyed, it was discovered how liking a brand influences the consumer experience. Here’s what they found: 82% of users think that Facebook is a good place to interact with brands and, out of those people, 35% say that they feel brands listen to them more on Facebook. An important stat for B2C is one of the top reasons to follow a brand on Facebook is for coupons and discounts. The study revealed that 77% of those who “Like” a brand on Facebook have saved money as a result.” So, if you’re not running promotions on your page, you probably should be.

Of course, one of the essential metrics in Facebook Marketing is Reach, or how many people your posts are actually reaching. It is said that the average is around the 20%, which doesn’t necessarily mean you should expect that. The below screenshot represents the performance of BrandLove’s last 7 Facebook posts. My average reach is 40.2% of my fans without any paid advertising. It also shows the mininum reach and maximum reach.

Who are my Fans?

“Who are my fans” is basically a quick snapshot and more visual version of the “Who you reached” charts provided by Facebook Insights. With the Minilytics version, you can easily read the gender and age groups. Do you think you’ll be surprised by the results of your fan base?

Best Type of Post?

In this case, Minilytics is gathering data from the last 100 posts to analyze what type of post is performing best with your audience. “Type” meaning your media, photos, videos, status or links. If you haven’t posted a certain “type,” maybe you haven’t posted any videos–Minilytics will not have any idea how those types of posts would have performed–so they are ignored for the calculation. On a side note, if you are only posting links at this time, I would highly recommend experimenting with photo’s and video’s since they have the highest reach and are the most engaging types of posts. MTV India found that photo albums increased clicks by 1290%. Seriously.

Best time to post?

Minilytics calculates this report based on the time when your Fans commented in your last 100 posts. This is valuable information if you’re looking to find premium times to post your updates. After all, your Facebook business page should be all about engaging with your fans, right?

Facebook Tip: Link Your Blog to Your Facebook Page to Drive Traffic (Free App!)

One advantage to the Facebook business page is the featured App tabs located just below your cover photo. Even if you’re tweeting and updating your Facebook business page status with your latest blog content (ahem — you should be if you’re not!) This FREE Application Tab, brought to you by Networkedblogs.com, is simple and easy to install and makes a great addition to your Facebook business page. One more way to drive traffic to your blog and get your articles read!

Ok, as promised, here’s what to do:

1. Log  into your Facebook account and on your Facebook business page, and in another window have your blog open (so you can quickly copy and paste the URL).

2. Visit networkedblogs.com and at the top right, click where it says, “Add Your Blog.”

3. You’ll be asked to log in with Facebook – do that.

4. Logging in will bring you to a page that lets you Register a Blog. Type or paste in the full URL of the blog, i.e. http://www.brandlovellc.wordpress.com.  Click “Next.”

5. Now you’ll be asked to fill in a bit more info, including the title of the blog, a brief description, a few tag words, etc. The “feed” address to the blog should be automatically entered.

6. When you finish, you’ll be brought to a page about the blog. On the left hand side of the screen under “Blogger Tools” you’ll see the word, “Syndication.” Click that, then go check your email for a verification email. Click where indicated in the email and you’ll be brought to another networkedblogs.com page.

7. Click on the “Blogger Dashboard” in the upper right hand corner; then in the menu under your blog, next to Publish, select Add to Facebook Page. Select the page you want to add your blog to and click the blue “Add Page Tab” button.

8. Head over to your Facebook business page, refresh the page if needed, and you’ll see a tab that says “Blog.” Click on the tab and you’ll be able to choose which blog (yours!) to appear on the page. If there are photos/graphics on your blog posts, the list of recent post excerpts will appear with thumbnails (as shown), giving your Blog tab on Facebook a clean, professional look and offering readers another way to engage with your words.

Keep in mind, not everyone clicks on App Tabs. To make sure everyone sees your new blog post on Facebook, post a Facebook status update with your article and include the shortened link to your newest content each time you blog. You can even take a screenshot of your blog article and post a picture of it for a higher ‘reach’ to your audience. See example below.
